"Americae sive Novi Orbis, nova descriptio". Kolor. Holzschnittkarte aus Seb.Münster (dt. Ausg.), wohl nach 1600. 30,5 x 36 cm. Mit ausgem. ornament. Titelkart., Kopfleiste mit 2 ausgem. eingesetzten Kart. sowie gedrucktem dt. Kopftitel "Die newen Inseln, so hinder Hispaniam gegen Orient, bey dem Landt Indie gelegen". 30,5 x 36 cm. Auf dem vollen Dplbl.
Burden 67. - Das Kartenbild nach Ortelius ist im Vergleich zur ,alten 'Münster-Karte sehr viel detaillierter u. mit viel mehr Namen; Japan ist nicht eingezeichnet, dafür jetzt "Nova Guinea". Hier wohl aus der Ausg. von 1614, allerdings im Gegensatz zur Abb. bei B. mit "Hispaniam" in der Kopfleiste. - Etw. gebräunt, 3 kl. Wurmlöchlein, li. scheint der Text von verso durch. - New woodcut map after Ortelius publ. only in the last 6 German ed. of Münster's Cosmographia; our copy according to B. from the 1614 ed., but with "Hispaniam" in the headline. Giving more detail and names than the former map; featuring New Guinea, but omitting Japan. - Browning and some marginal spotting. Some discoloration from paste and 3 small wormholes, at left slight shine-through of text on vs.
