Ergänzungsbandes. - Eon de Beaumont (1728-1810) kann wohl als ein großer Spion der Geschichte bezeichnet werden, so soll er in Rußland erstmals als Frau verkleidet Nachforschungen angestellt haben. Außerdem leitete er den geheimen Briefwechsel der Kaiserin Elisabeth mit Ludwig XV und hielt sich seit 1762 in London als Geheimkorrespondent des franz. Königs auf. - Early, possibly second edition in the same year and with the same printer as the first. The transvestite, diplomat and spy Charles-Genevieve Louis-Auguste d'Eon de Beaumont (1728-1810) had one of the most extraordinary careers of the 18th century. Dressed as a woman he gained the confidence of Tsarina Catharina in 1755.
