Wing B2813. - William Seaman (1606-1680) Orientalist und erster Übersetzer des Neuen Testaments ins Türkische, das auf Kosten von Robert Boyle und der Levant Company gedruckt wurde. Um 1630 reiste Seaman nach Konstantinopel und trat in den Dienst des englischen Botschafters Sir Peter Wyche. Seine Übersetzung des Neuen Testaments ins Türkische blieb für 50 Jahre die einzige türkische Übersetzung. - 2 St.a.T. Hs. Besitzereintr. a. d.
