STC 819. Pollen 1819. Cicogna 4467. - Dritte und zugleich letzte und umfangreichste Ausgabe der ersten großen systematischen kunst - und kulturgeschichtlichen Darstellung Venedigs. Erstmals 1581 erschienen, dann in 2. Ausgabe 1604 von G. Stringa erweitert. Für die 3. Ausgabe hebt Cicogna besonders heraus "i Cataloghi posti alla fine, cioè degli uomini letterati dal 1600 al 1663, dei dottori nel clero veneto, dei medici, degli avvocati, dei pittori, degli scultori". - Es existieren 3 Druckvarianten, unterscheidbar u. a. an Fehlpaginierungen; vorliegend die Variante, bei der die Seitenzahlen 194, 195 und 716-719 doppelt vergeben sind. - Gelenke gebrochen, vorderer fliegender Vorsatz lose, Titel mit klösterlichem Besitzvermerk von 1711, etwa das letzte Sechstel des Druckes mit Wurmspuren (geringer Textverlust); leicht gebräunt, vereinzelt gering fleckig. - Third and at the same time last and most comprehensive edition of the first big systematic illustration of Venice as regards art and cultural history. - There are 3 issues which can be distinguished a. o. by incorrect paginations; here the version where the page numbers 194, 195 and 716-719 exist twice. - Joints broken, upper fly-leaf loose, title with monastic ownership entry of 1711, the last sixth part more or less of the issue with worming (minor loss of text); slightly browned, occasionally a little soiled. - Contemporary vellum (with small defects, worming, scratching, soiling).
