After the publication of one volume and a half in the congested type adopted during the revolutionary period, this sort of printing was discarded and the editors had to reprint certain parts, and extend it to 3 vols. They utilized the leaves of the text and the engravings, interpolated 9 preliminary discourses with 6 plates, and had the title re-issued with a new frontispiece." - Vorliegend die beiden ersten Bände mit dem Titel von 1798 und 6 Seiten römisch paginierter Einleitung; ohne den 3. Band mit 60 Porträts. - Mit prächtigen Tafeln zu den Revolutionsereignissen. - Tafel 144 oben bis zum Bildrand beschnitten, tls. fleckig. - Gestoch. Exlibris von Frederick James Osbaldeston Montagu (1878-1957), High Sheriff of Yorkshire, mit der Devise "Les livres sont des amis qui ne se trompent pas". - First edition. - Here present the first two volumes with the title of 1798 and 6 pages introduction paginated in Roman; without the third volume with 60 portraits. - With magnificent plates to the revolution events. - Plate 144 at top cut up to plateline, partly soiled. - Engraved exlibris of Frederick James Osbaldeston Montagu (1878-1957), High Sheriff of Yorkshire, with the motto "Les livres sont des amis qui ne se trompent pas". - Later calf by using an old material (scratched and scuffed).
