Between 1591 and 1597 he made two long journeys, the first through parts of Europe (1591-95) and the second (Nov. 1595-July 1597) to the Levant. His 'Itinerary', published long after his return from the east, was originally composed in Latin, presumably from careful notes made at that time. Moryson translated it himself into English. The remarks on the Levant are complete. Many of the sections on Europa remained in manuscript until 1903, when they were edited and published as 'Shakespeare's Europe'. Moryson's book displays an encyclopaedic approach to the whole question of travelling, with much advice to the inexperienced. An invaluable work" (Blackmer). Die Karten u.
