Lowndes II, 942. - William Wyndham Grenville, Lord Grenville (1759-1834) served as Foreign Secretary in William Pitt's cabinet and headed the Ministry of All the Talents in 1806-07. The translations in this volume demonstrate the skill of an Oxford-educated aristocrat at translating from English, Italian or Greek into appropriate Latin verse (Grenville had won the Chancellor's Prize for Latin Verse at Oxford University in 1779). - Ohne das Portrait.
