Übersetzung des Kommentars zu Euclids "Elementa", nach Manuskripten erweitert, korrigiert und kommentiert von Fr. Barozzi. - "Seinen Euklid-Kommentar eröffnete (Proklos) mit einer Darlegung der neuplatonischen Philosophie der Mathematik; wichtig für die Nachwelt wurden vor allen Dingen die vielen wertvollen historischen Bemerkungen, die Proklos darin überlieferte..." (Scriba 5000 Jahre Geometrie). - Nur vereinzelt leicht fleckig. Gutes, breitrandiges Ex. - First edition of the first Latin translation of the comments on the first book of Euclid's Elements. "One of the most important of his extant writings.... Proclus was the last great representative of the philosophical movement now called Neoplatonism" (DSB). - With large woodcut printer's device at the end, a woodcut portrait by Barozzi verso title, framed by woodcut borders, with numerous woodcut diagrams. Contemporary flexible vellum (ties missing, somewhat stained and wavy). A very good near fine copy with wide margins.
