Erste Ausgabe, von seinem Neffen hrsg. - Garrison/Morton 5571: "Scultetus is famous for his illustrations of surgical procedures and instruments. The first editions was the only edition published in folio format. This was the most popular surgical text of the 17th century". - Scultetus (1595-1645) aus Ulm war Schüler von Hier. Fabricius ab Aquapendente und Adriaan van de Spiegel in Padua, wo Doktor der Medizin, Chirurgie und Philosophie wurde und auch praktizierte. 1625 wurde er Stadtphysicus in Ulm. - Die schönen Tafeln zeigen Instrumente, Amputationen und Operationen, Augen-, Zahn- und anderen Kopfoperationen. - II). Seltene Ausgabe mit detaillierten Beschreibungen des menschlichen Muskelsystems. Erschien erstmals 1681 und wurde eines der erfolgreichsten anatomischen Werke in England. - Welcome II, 251. - Die Tafeln zu I meist bis zum seitlichen Rand teils bis ins Bild beschnitten und teilw. alt angerändert. Ab der Mitte wasserrandig u. moderig in den Rändern. - Gekauft wie besichtigt. - 2 works in 1 volume. First work with 43 copper plates. Second work with 38 copper engravings in the text, 2 copper plates and 1 folded table. Leather of the 18th century (rubbed and bumped, joints partly cracked, somewhat stained). Partly with damages at the margins, partly waterstained. Bought as seen.
