Levaillant (1753-1824) von Theefontein zu seiner 2. Expedition durch das Kapland Südafrikas auf. Über den Pikatberg und Swartbaskraal gelangte er beim heutigen Vredendal an den Olifants River. Nordwärts weiter nach Garies, über den Kamiesberg gelangte er schließlich über Ezelsfontein an den Oranje-Fluß. - Traversed the countries now known as British and German Namaqualand, Damaraland, parts of Bechuanaland, and the Kalahari desert.
