Seltene erste Ausgabe. - A scarce personal account of the Miguelite War of 1834 by a captain in the 42nd Regiment. - James Edward Alexander (1803-1885), prominent British soldier and traveler, traveled to Portugal to secure permission for an exploratory trip to the Portuguese colonies in Africa. Captain Alexander witnessed, the defeat of the Miguelites in the Battle of Santarem (16 May 1834), a frontispiece by the author and a plan detail the battle. - Leicht gebräunt u. etw. stockfl. gest.
