Wertvolle Abhandlung von plötzlichen und seltsamen Todesfällen und ihren Ursachen. - "In the above work Lancisi noted cardiac hypertrophy and dilatation as causes of sudden death. He was the first to describe valvular vegetation, and his book gives a classification of the cardiac diseases then recognized. Lancisi's work laid the foundation of cardiac pathology" (Garrison-Morton 2731)."Lancisi was one of the outstanding Italian clinicians of the early eighteenth century and was particularly skilled as a cardiologist. The present work on fatal illnesses includes many postmortem findings, occasioned by the rash of sudden deaths that occurred in Rome during 1705 e 1706. Numerous diseases are mentioned in the autopsy reports, and Lancisi correlates many older classical ideas of disease with the newly-evolving clinical-pathological ideas which culminated in Morgagni's De sedibus in 1761" (Heirs of Hippocrates, Iowa, 1980, p. 207, nr. 445). - Leicht stockfl., etw. wellig.
