"Pflüger erforscht die Funktionen des Rückenmarks und findet das nach ihm beannte Zuckungsgesetz" (Darmstaedter 591). - Rare and important study on reflexes and a forerunner of the Pavlov theory. It was Pflügers first outstanding contribution to science after his thesis. See DSB. The work is dedicated in print to Emil du Bois-Reymond, with J. Müller his master, and the founder of scientific eletrophysiology. The law proved to be dependant on the polarity, the direction and the strength of the direct current. This finding is known as Pflüger's Law of Convulsion. Eduard [Friedrich Wilhelm] Pflüger (1829-1910) also was the founder and the editor of the famous Pflüger's Archiv or the Archiv für die gesammte Physiologie des Menschen und der Tiere, which was published from 1868 onwards.
