Barth 180. Brunet II, 1459. Erste Ausgabe. - Louis XIV. war 13 Jahre alt, als er dieses Buch schrieb. Auch damals gehörten Cäsaraufsätze zum Unterricht, u. vorliegendes Buch ist wohl ein Bsp. für die Prinzenerziehung, da von Heinrich IV. ebenfalls eine Cäsarübersetzung gedruckt wurde. - Die prachtvollen Kupfertaf. zeigen die Aufstellungen der Helvetier u. Römer unweit Genfs mit den jurassischen Bergen im Hintergrund sowie Bibracte. - Durchgeh. etw. stockfl., fast durchgeh. im unt. Gelenk wasserrandig. - Fol. With 1 engr. title-vignette, 2 engr. vignettes, 1 copper initial and 4 double page size copper plates. 18 pgs. Contemp. leather with richly ornamented gilded spine and label on spine. (Rubbed, partly restored). - Barth 180. Brunet II, 1459. First edition. - Louis XIV. has been thirteen when writing this book. Even at this time essays on Ceasar belonged to the education, and this book probably is an example for the aristocratical childraising, since there has also been printed a Ceasar translation by Heinrich IV. The gorgeous copper plates show the array of the Helvetians and Romans not far from Geneve with the jurassic mountains and Bibracte in the background. - Continuous foxing, continuous waterstain in lower joint.
