Sehr seltener Privatdruck für "Verwandte und Freunde" (über WorldCat nur 1 Ex. in der Stabi Berlin u. 1 Ex. in der Tutt Library Colorado nachweisbar). - Zusammenfassung der in 15 Jahren erworbenen Erfahrungen als Farmer und Minenbesitzer in Amerika. Graf James Malte von Pourtales (1853-1908) der 1871 die Herrschaft Glumbowitz (heute Glebowice in Schlesien) erbte kam 1885 das erste Mal nach Colorado Springs wo er sich schließlich am Milchbauernhof "Broadmoor" beteiligte und für den Ausbau der Milchwirtschaft sorgte. Seinen Traum war ein "Broadmoor City"; er gründet die "Broadmoor Land and Investment Company" und eröffnet 1891 ein Kasino mit Hotel. - Mit einem Plan von Broadmoor. - Vorsatz mit eh. Widmung des Verfassers "Zum Andenken... James".- Schönes Exemplar. - Very rare private printing (we could trace only 1 copy in Germany and 1 copy in Colorado); with author's own dedication on the flying endpaper. - With 21 (2 double sheet size) plates and 1 folded plan. Interesting report from the early days of Colorado Springs. - "Prussian Count James Pourtales came west to seek romance and fortune, and brought his knowledge of German scientific farming to Colorado Springs. He began a partnership with William Wilcox's Broadmoor Dairy and became the founding father of todays Broadmoor Hotel and Resort. - Fine copy.
