Nissen BBI 20. - Der Arzt und Botaniker Alpino (1553-1617) kam 1580 als Leibarzt des venezianischen Gesandten nach Kairo, wo er drei Jahre verbrachte und umfangreiche naturkundliche Studien betrieb. Zurück in Italien arbeitete er zunächst in Diensten von Andrea Doria, bevor er als Professor nach Padua ging und dort auch die Leitung des Botanischen Gartens übernahm. Enthält: I. Rerum Aegyptiarum libri IV; II. De Plantis Aegyptis. Cum observationibus & notis J. Veslingii. - 2 Bl. Dedication des zweiten Bandes in erstem Band eingebunden. - Breitrandiges Ex. Etw. gebräunt u. tls. leicht fleckig, hs. Besitzverm. auf Innendeckel. - 2 volumes. With 106 (6 folding) copper plates. Contemporary half leather (rubbed and bumped, spine with some worming). Somewhat browned, partly slightly stained.
