Seltene große Schultermaske (Sukwava). Wohl verwendet bei Regenmacher-Zeremonien oder Krankenheilungen. Schweres Hartholz, tls. weiß gekalkt (Reste). Ca. 70 x 38 x 25 cm. Zuzügl. mit Metallständer. Leichte Beschädigungen.
Prov: Kunsthandel Tirol. - 'The Tribal Art of Africa' von Jean-Baptiste Bacquart. - Rare large shoulder mask (sukwava). Probably used in rainmaking ceremonies or healing the sick. Heavy hardwood, partly whitewashed (remains). Comes with a metal stand. Slightly damaged.
