"Ye Berlyn Tapestrie is founded on the famous Bayeux Tapestry which recorded incidents of the Invasion of England by William the Conqueror A.D. 1066". - Caricature of the German invasion in Flanders, modeled after the famous Bayeux Tapestry, which recorded William the Conqueror's invasion of England and the Battle of Hastings. A group of English cartoonists responded to these events with characteristic black humor and among the most inventive responses was advertising artist John Hassall's 'Ye Berlyn Tapestrie'.
