The geological explorations carried out for the survey of the Carte géologique de la France also gave rise to the writing of numerous descriptive memoirs that Dufrénoy and Elie de Beaumont generally published in the Annales des Mines, before regrouping them in the Mémoires pour servir à une description géologique de la France. - Slightly later half-shagreen with title and volume numbers gilt on spine. Corners scuffed. Somewhat toned and foxed, a few plates frayed in the margins.
