115-2540 Souvenir of Gwalior 1906
(Deckeltitel). Album v. Herzog & Higgins, Mhow (Central India) 1906. 36,5 x 47 cm. Mit 103 (23 großformatige, 78 kleinformatige u. 2 Panoramen) auf Kart.-Bl. aufgez. Photos. Restaur. Ldr. v. Caxton, Mumbai mit Gold- u. Blindpräg. u. Goldschn. (Rckn. mod. erneuert, berieb.), in mod. Lwd.-Kassette.
Im Jahre 1906 reiste König Edward VII von England nach Indien, u.a. zur Tigerjagd mit dem Maharadscha von Gwalior. Zu diesem Anlass ließ der Maharadscha einige Photoalben herstellen und an den König und seine Begleiter verschenken. Vorliegend das Ex. für H.D. Watson (Generalmajor im Begleitkommando des Königs). - Die Photos zeigen erlegte Tiger und Krokodile, Camp und Brücke in Raipur, Paläste, den Maharadscha in seinem Büro, Gruppenaufnahmen der Jagdgesellschaft, etc. - 1 Panorama nur die re. Hälfte vorhanden, das andere Panorama mit Fehlst. in der Darst. - In 1906 King Edward VII of England traveled to India. On this occasion, the maharajah had some photo albums made and given to the king and his companions. With 103 photos, mounted on cardboard. Restored leather binding by Caxton, Mumbai (spine renewed, rubbed) in modern cloth case. Left half of 1 panorama missing, the other panorama damaged.
