Längen vorschlägt. - Die Entdeckung Amerikas wird hier Vespucci zugeschrieben, der Kontinent selbst als 'Insel' bezeichnet, weil er von allen Seiten vom Wasser umgeben ist. "Viel mathematische Geographie ... Appendix über die Nachtuhr, die P. Apian auf Wunsch seines Bruders Georg hinzugefügt hatte" (Zinner). - Ohne num. Bl. 28 u. ohne d. dplbl. Weltkarte. Upon his father's death Fine was sent to Paris and confided to the care of Antoine Silvestre, regent of the College de Montaigue and later of the College de Navarre. Although he earned bis Bachelor of Medicine degree in 1522, his career developed outside the university; in 1531 he was appointed to the chair of mathematics at the recently founded College Royal, where he taught until his death."
