Besonders geschätzt die prachtvollen Veduten habsburgischer Städte und Burgen, von A. u. J. Schmutzer nach Heinr. Meyer v. Winterthur gestochen: Baden, Freiburg/Br., Habsburg (mehrfach), Kyburg, Laufenburg, Lenzburg, Rapperswil, Rheinfelden, Tiengen, Zähringen usw. Die große Karte von G. A.Steinberg zeigt den Südschwarzwald, die Nordschweiz und den Bodensee. Sehr schönes, zeitgenössisch gebundenes Exemplar. - Einige Bl. leicht gebräunt u. stockfl., Titelbl. mit schwachem Abklatsch v. Frontisp., Karte mit wenigen Knitterfalten. Insges. sehr schönes u. breitrandiges Ex. - First edition of this highly important contribution to the history of the imperial house of Habsburg and a most valuable work on the Austrian Imperial family; published after eight years of diligent research by the Benedictine historian and diplomat Marquard Herrgott (1694-1762). As reward for his labours Herrgott was appointed councillor and historiographer to the emperor in 1737. A sequel of his work was published under the title Monumenta Augustae Domus Austriacae, vol. I (Vienna, 1750), vol. II (Freiburg, 1753), and vol. III (Freiburg, 1760). - The stunnnig plates were engraved by J. H. Meyer; they show the Habsburg towns and castles and many a view of Switzerland. The engraved map by G. A. Steinberg shows the South Germany and the north-eastern parts of Switzerland with Lake Constance. - Excellent copy of this celebrated work in a contemporary vellum binding.
