First edition of an interesting treatise on the question of brothels by the at the time very famous German physician Georg Franck von Franckenau (1643-1704). Probably dictated to the students, at Heidelberg in 1674, where the author then was professor at the Heidelberg University. Later he was professor at Wittenberg. The learned author, doctor in medicine as well as in philology, in his treatise presents in a succinct survey the opinions on whore-houses through history, both from a philosophical and medical point of view, from Plato to Erasmus, and from Hippocrat to Schenck. And as the title implies, from a medical point of view brothels are disaproved of.
