Cooper made a study of femoral hernia and discribed "Cooper's ligament". He also studied diaphragmatic hernia. The above book includes the discription of "Coopers hernia" (hernia femoralia superficialis)". Cooper (1768-1841) war Prof. der Chirurgie in London. Erstmalig unterband er 1805 die Carotis-communis wegen eines Aneurisma. Für die Chirurgie war er wegen der größeren Sicherheit der Diagnose und der Einfachheit der Therapie, besonders in operativer Hinsicht, von großer Bedeutung. - Breitrandiges Ex., tls. etw. stockfleckig.
