Brander was German, and published a book, 'Beschreibung dreyer Camerae Obscurae' (Augsburg, 1769) in which he illustrated a 'desk' camera obscura capable of allowing the ease of large drawings. The apparatus which one could actually sit at was at least 4 feet high with an extended aperture which appears to be of equal length. The artist would sit like as to write a letter and see the subject before him through the aid of a 45° mirror within the camera. Brander was a student in mathematics and physics at Nuremburg and later wrote several books on the camera obscura. He edited 'Beschreibung dreyer Camerae Obscurae' twice, in 1775 and 1792. - Sehr selten. - Text im ob. Blattrand tls. knapp beschnitten (tls. unter Verlust der Seitenzahl). tit. mit kl.
