Höchst seltene erste Ausgabe der Entdeckung der Venusflecken, deren Erforschung heute eines der wichtigsten Vorhaben der Weltraumforschung ist. - Anfang 1726 begann Blanchini seine Beobachtungen mit einem von Giuseppe Canpani konstruierten Riesenfernrohr und konnte bereits am 25. Februar dunkle Flecken auf dem Planeten erkennen. - Großzügig gesetztes und reich illustriertes Werk des vatikanischen Druckers Salvioni, das Riccardi eine "magnifica edizione" rühmt.
