Here, the eminent Swiss natural history scientist and philosopher Charles Bonnet (1720-1793) signed his name on the title page, crossing out the "Secundus" in the line "Tomus Secundus" and substituted it with a handwritten "Primus". The original gatherings of the volumes have been left as they were, apparently, Bonnet received his set in this state and didn`t bother any further about irrevelant title page for the first volume. - Without 7 supplementary plates. - Marcello Malpighi (1628-94), Italian physician and anatomist, was professor of physic as Pisa, Bologna, and Messina, and was physician to Pope Innocent XII. While at Pisa, he discovered that the heart is composed of spiral fibers, but he is best remembered for his studies of the anatomy and transformation of insects, the development of the chick in the egg, and other things relating to the circulation of blood. - Ohne die 7 Supplementtafeln. - Etw. gebräunt, tls. stockfleckig, vereinzelt fingerfleckig.
