Erste Ausgabe. - Seltene, phantasievolle Reisebeschreibung, zugeschrieben Antoine Francois Momoro (1756-1794), Drucker-Buchhändler, Typograph und politischer Aktivist. Ein Freund von Danton, Camille Desmoulins und Fournier, unterstützte er leidenschaftlich die Revolution und verfocht die Abschaffung von Königshaus und Adel. Der Erzähler entscheidet, inspiriert durch seine Sehnsucht nach dem Fliegen und seine Leidenschaft für Ballons, zum Mond zu fliegen. Zu diesem Zweck baut er einen Ballon, erläutert den Bau im Detail, und macht sich mit 2 Freunden auf die Reise. Der Mond ist ein fruchtbares Land, mit weiten Flüssen und rubinfarbenem Wasser. Da gibt es "komische und bizarre" Häuser, und skelettartige Einwohner mit dreieckigen Köpfen und 3 Augen. - Die Zuschreibung an Momoro geschah durch Paludan. NUC listet nur 2 Ex., Library of Congress und Harvard. - First edition. - Scarce imaginary voyage attributed to Antoine Francois Momoro (1756-1794), printer-bookseller, typographer and political activist. A friend of Danton, Camille Desmoulins and Fournier, he was a passionate supporter of the revolution and advocated the execution of all royalty and nobility. - The narrator, inspired with the desire for flight and a passion for ballons, decides to go to the moon. He builds a balloon for this purpose, describing it in some detail and then embarks on his voyage with two friends. The moon is a green country, with wide rivers and water the colour of rubies. There are houses `comique et bizarre` and skeletical inhabitants with triangular heads and three eyes. - The attribution to Momoro is made by Paludan. NUC lists only the Library of Congress and Harvard copies. - Little foxing.
