This copy is the first edition of this compendium of Zurita's magnum opus, the Annals of Aragon which supplements and expands upon some of the information in the six volumes of the basic work. It does not include the three appendices (about 155 pages) on the history of Sicily which was printed with it. Zurita "...displayed a new conception of an historian's duties, and, not content with the sample materials stored in the archives of Aragon, continued his researches in the libraries of Rome, Naples, and Sicily; he founded the school of historical scholarship in Spain" (Ency.
