Feine, wohlerhaltene astronomische Handschriften. "It is well understood, that these manuscripts are offered not as Cassini de Thury`s own; they were possibly written under his directorship of the Paris observatory or even before. However fact is, that César-Francois Cassini de Thury (1714-1784), son of the eminent astronomer Jacques Cassini and grandson of the founder of this dynasty of celebrated and important astronomers, Dominique C., made lunar and solar eclipse-observations. He is predominantly known to the present day as the great cartographer who produced the first map of France according to modern principles (DSB III, 100ff.).
