A true description out of the Word of God, of the Visible Church. O.O. u. Dr. (Dordrecht ?) 1589. 8 S. Mod. Umschl.

STC 1526 & STC 238. Erste Ausgabe. - The Barrow item is extremely rare, only four copies being recorded in total, and only one of these in America (Henry Huntington Library). The British Library does not posess a copy. Barrow was executed in 1593, along with those other Separatists Barrow, Greenwood, and Penry, for devising and circulating seditious books. Following their execution many of their followers fled from England and settled in Amsterdam, where Ainsworth was appointed their preacher. The Ainsworth and Johnson work is the first known production of Giles Thorp s press, which printed for the Seperatist church there. See A.F. Johnson, The Exiled English Church at Amsterdam and its Press, in The Library, V, vol.5 (1951), p.225. - Etw. angestaubt u. fleckig, tls. etw. knickfaltig, im unt. Rand gering wasserrandig.
