Darlow-Moule 8971. - Erste vokalisierte Ausgabe des von der Sacra Congregatio de Propaganda Fide, der mächtigen, heute unter dem Namen "Kongregation für die Evangelisierung der Völker" (Congregazione per l'evangelizzazione dei popoli) geführte Missionsbehörde der katholischen Kirche in Rom herausgegebenen "Missale Chaldaicum" mit dem vollständigen Messtext in syrischer Schrift. "In Rome, parallel to the early Maronite enterprise there was an effort by the press of the SCPF to print for another Catholic Syriac church, the Chaldean Church. For this enterprise, it was necessary to print in the Eastern script. The Press of the SCPF made two attemps at this script, the first (with no vowels) in 1633 (R. Bellarmino, 'Dottrina Christiana') and the second, a more practical type with vowel points cast on, around 1767. That is the date of a large and beautiful Chaldean missal" (Coakley S. 103-104). - Schwach gebräunt, stellenweise etw. fleckig, Anfang mit kl. Brandfleck am ob. Rd. Lateinischer Titel mit Stempel einer Jesuitenbibliothek. - Contemporary vellum (somewhat bumped and rubbed). Slightly browned, partly somewhat stained, beginning with small scorch mark on the upper margin. Latin title with old stamp of a Jesuit library.
