Jahrhunderts begründet u. herausgegeben. Das Blatt widmete sich ausschließlich handelspolitischen Fragen und verfocht die Idee der Schutzzoll-Politik. - The German Customs Union, or "Zollverein", had been formed in 1833 "largely due to List's enthusiastic advocacy of the abolition of internal tariffs" (PMM 311). List considered the principle of free trade detrimental to the national interest, to which the immediate interests of groups and individuals should be submitted.
